Our Story

From Middle Eastern Produce to a National Dates Distributor

Our business began in 1994 as a distributor of produce and nuts from the Middle East. That trade taught us the ins and outs of importing, built our relationships with suppliers at origin, and earned us the market's trust.

As demand for dates kept growing, the business shifted its focus to dates. In 2016, PT. Sahabat Mulia Jaya Lestari was incorporated with a single focus: importing and distributing dates in high volume, available all year round.

Today SMJL is one of the largest dates distributors in Indonesia, managing and distributing 12 brands and supplying a network of agents, wholesalers, and retailers from Sumatra to Papua.
